BRIEF INSTRUCTIONS ON SETTING EAGLE MAIN VALVE

CONTROL PILOTING

 

1. ISOLATION MS10 (CLOSE)

 

2. ADJUST MP12 + MP13 TO A FULL CLOCKWISE POSITION

 

3. ADJUST MP9 TO A FULL COUNTER-CLOCKWISE POSITION

 

4. ADJUST MS16 TO A FULL COUNTER-CLOCKWISE POSITION

 

5. CREATE A DEMAND OF 150% OF THE CAPACITY OF THE #2 PUMP

 

6. ALL OTHER ISOLATION VALVES SHOULD BE OPEN

 

7. START PUMP #2 IN THE HAND POSITION. ANY OTHER PUMP (S) SHOULD BE OFF

 

8. PLACE START/RUN SWITCH IN THE START POSITION

 

9. ONCE THE TANK HAS FILLED, THE INTERSTAGE PRESSURE GAUGE GI-18 (0-300 PSI) SHOULD READ PUMP SHUT-OFF PRESSURE

 

10. START TO TURN MP12 COUNTER-CLOCKWISE UNTIL THE MAIN VALVE BEGINS TO OPEN. INTERSTAGE PRESSURE SHOULD BEGIN TO DROP

 

11. SLOWLY TURN MP12 COUNTER-CLOCKWISE UNTIL INTERSTAGE PRESSURE DROPS TO 10 PSI BELOW SPECIFIED SYSTEM PRESSURE.

 

12. CLOSE MP15, MAIN VALVE SHOULD GO CLOSED. INTERSTAGE PRESSURE SHOULD RETURN TO PUMP SHUT-OFF PRESSURE.

 

13. OPEN MP15 INTERSTAGE SHOULD RETURN TO PREVIOUS SETTING FROM STEP (11)

 

14. MP12 IS NOW SET. TIGHTEN LOCK NUT

 

15. CREATE A DEMAND OF APPROXIMATELY 40% OF DUTY POINT OF PUMP #2

 

16. OPEN MS10, MAIN VALVE WILL CLOSE

 

17. START TURNING MS16 CLOCKWISE. SYSTEM PRESSURE (ON GG19, 0-200 PSI) SHOULD START TO RISE. SLOWLY TURN MS16 UNTIL SYSTEM PRESSURE READS ABOUT 10 PSI ABOVE SPECIFIED SYSTEM PRESSURE. CLOSE MS10.

 

18. MS16 IS SET. TIGHTEN LOCK NUT

 

19. ADJUST MP13 COUNTER-CLOCKWISE TO REDUCE THE SYSTEM PRESSURE TO THE NORMAL SPECIFIED SETTING

 

20. CLOSE MP15. MAIN CONTROL VALVE SHOULD CLOSE.

 

21. RE-OPEN MP15, VALVE SHOULD OPEN AND SYSTEM PRESSURE SHOULD RETURN TO PREVIOUS SET POINT OF STEP (19)

 

22. CREATE A DEMAND EQUAL TO THE DUTY POINT OF PUMP #2

 

23. AGAIN CLOSE MP15

 

24. WAIT A FEW SECONDS THEN RE-OPEN MP15. IF THE VALVE OPENS SMOOTHLY WITH NO GREAT SURGE OF PRESSURE INTO THE SYSTEM, THE SPEED CONTROL MP9, IS SET

 

25. IF THE SYSTEM SURGES, CLOSE MP9 ONE HALF TURN CLOCKWISE AT A TIME AND REPEAT STEPS (23) THROUGH (25) UNTIL THE VALVE RESPONDS SMOOTHLY

 

26. OPEN MS10. ALL BALL VALVES SHOULD NOW BE OPEN. TIGHTEN ALL LOCK NUTS AND REPLACE PLASTIC CAPS

 

27. PLACE ALL PUMPS IN AUTO AND CREATE A RANGE OF DEMANDS FROM 0 GPM TO 100% OF SYSTEM DESIGN BACK TO 0 GPM

 

28. ALLOW SUFFICIENT TIME FOR ALL TIMERS TO TIME OUT DURING OPERATION AND VERIFY THAT WHEN THE VALVE IS FULLY CLOSED THAT THE BLUE VALVE “CLOSED” LIGHT COMES ON

 

29. IF THE BLUE LIGHT DOESN’T LIGHT, CLOSE MP15 AND ADJUST THE LIMIT SWITCH COM, MF 23A, UNTIL THE LIGHT COMES ON

 

30. OPEN AND CLOSE MP15 A FEW TIMES TO VERIFY REPEATABILITY OF THE VALVE CLOSED LIMIT SWITCH

IF NO PROBLEMS ARE ENCOUNTERED, THE CONTROL VALVE SHOULD NOW BE COMPLETELY SET. THESE INSTRUCTION DO NOT REFERENCE THE ADJUSTMENT OF A SYSTEM RELIEF VALVE, LOW SYSTEM, INTERSTAGE AND HIGH SYSTEM PRESSURE SWITCHES. ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE CALL (800) 886-4443 OR (770) 447-4443
